Omschrijving
Francesco Negro (1986) is a musician who despite his 'young' age already demonstrates an unmatched artistic maturity.
Silentium is the result of long sessions of testing in the silence full of light of the Salento countryside and in the closure
of a studio surrounded by the convulsive energy of Rome. Subsequent recording in the studio returns the language of the trio
in all its originality, with a succession of new songs alternating with fragments of collective improvisation.
The Trio was born in 2009 at the International Jazz Master in Siena.
Along with Igor Legari's double bass and Ermanno Baron's drums, with whom he has been collaborating for a long time, Negro is dedicated
to a repertoire of fresh and melodic original compositions interspersed with two remarkable collective improvisations,
sober and equally attentive to the melodic aspect, with the perfection of typical sound of Stefano Amerio's studio.
The Salentino pianist seeks out his own stylistic personality to free himself from the strong models that permeate his musical conception,
from Monk to Evans to Jarrett, thanks also to the affectionate and gifted travel companions who support him with power and imagination,
guaranteeing an accomplice and communicative interplay. In addition to the two improvised songs, it is worth emphasizing - though all are
very pleasing to the listening - the intense The window on the courtyard, the long, free and articulated Angiolina, and the concluding My Africa.

The CD is composed of ten tracks and sees the concept of "listening to silence" linked to John Cage's philosophy as the inspirational principle:
Silentium is not just the title of the work but also the leit motiv of the entire CD. The themes of the piano inspire the insertion of dynamic
drum patterns, guiding listening to more experimental lenses. The deep bilingual notes enhance every harmonic passage by creating a soundtrack
that supports the many variations of themes. A succession of melody and experimentation energizes this Silentium, where classical harmonic structures
alternate with experimental parts. The ideas are certainly lacking in Francesco Negro, who with this work demonstrates remarkable artistic maturity,
while maintaining the fresh and youthful taste of the whole work. Silentium is not "just" an album, but a true philosophical approach to sounds and music.

A glittering instant, in which the solid academic and negotiable education of Negro and Baron, very convincing and personal,
amalgams naturally with the most popular, but of course equally noble, baggage of the most "instinctive" Igor Legari.
The brilliant acoustic jazz that comes from it is an expression of a bright predisposition to improvisation, which the three cultivate
and manage mastery, while moving essentially within the structures, save a couple of more "fragments" completely extemporaneous.
A jazz ductile, casual, pleasing, harmonious, depending on the moments, can remember the pianism and the conception
of the trio piano of some of the major Afro-American keyboards such as Keith Jarrett and Enrico Pieranunzi on the one hand,
Don Pullen and Abdullah Ibrahim on the other. A work that works from the first to the last note: a worthy test of consciousness.
