Orchestre de Paris maestro Klaus Mäkelä conducts a selection of pieces from Shostakovitch and Walton, highlighting the jazz explorations of both composers. Sol Gabetta accompanies for Shostakovich’s poignant Concerto No.2, filled with restrained tension, while the rhythmic, poppier elements of Walton's Belshazzar’s Feast are brought to the fore for a spectacular biblical finale.
