Il giovane Montalbano (AKA The Young Montalbano) is een Italiaanse misdaadserie van de zender Rai 1. De serie ging in première in 2012.
Salvatore Montalbano, een getalenteerde jonge politieman, wordt gepromoveerd tot commissaris en getransfereerd naar Vigata. Daar krijgt hij de leiding over een groep agenten onder wie een agent die veel ouder is en een iet wat 'aparte' Siciliaan, Catarella.

Resigned to the end of the romance with his girlfriend Mery, Montalbano throws himself into work, but he is soon shaken by the arrival of the new deputy inspector of Vigata, the young Domenico Augello, which brings with it a certain uneasiness. Later, at a traditional picnic in the square, a child is kidnapped and Montalbano is called in to investigate.
