SpyBot Search & Destroy doet haar naam eer aan: de software zoekt naar kwaadwillende software en haalt deze uit je systeem. De applicatie doorzoekt je gehele harde schijf op traceerbestanden (tracer cookies) en andere vervelende gluurprogramma's.

Spyware laat vervelende sporen achter. Het is semi-legaal wanneer websites een disclaimer bevatten, die stelt dat je bezoek niet zonder gevolgen verloopt.
