Fanfare Ciocărlia is een populaire, 12-koppige band afkomstig uit Noord-Oost Roemenië, meer bepaald uit Zece Prăjini. De bandleden behoren etnisch tot de Roma. Ze spelen folk en bekende liedjes. Soms met plaatselijke bekende zangers.

Fanfara Ciocârlia are best known for a very fast, high-energy sound, with complex rhythms and high-speed, staccato clarinet, saxophone and trumpet solos, sometimes performed at more than 200 beats per minute.[1] Fanfara Ciocârlia high energy live performances are noted for their wit and sense of controlled chaos – during concerts the band may randomly blast their horns and clarinets in the middle of a song – while they continue to play their old, battered instruments onstage.

Fanfara Ciocârlia are also known for their talent to rearrange famous songs (Born To Be Wild, James Bond Theme, Caravan, Summertime) in a manner that marks them as their own. Fanfara Ciocârlia never use sheet music in their performances. Since appearing in 1996 Fanfara Ciocârlia have played more than two thousand concerts in more than 70 countries. In 2016 the band will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a world tour.
