Slipknot Albums
Collection 1987-2014

Slipknot is een Amerikaanse heavymetalband uit Des 
Moines, Iowa die in 1995 is opgericht door bassist Paul 
Gray, percussionist Shawn Crahan en (voormalig) zanger 
Anders Colsefini. Het eerste album (Mate.Feed.Kill.Re-
peat) is door de band in eigen beheer uitgebracht. De la-
tere albums zijn uitgebracht via Roadrunner. Slipknot 
behoort tot de hardere nu-metalbands en is een van de 
bestverkopende bands in het genre. De band onder-
scheidt zich door de vrij ingewikkelde muzikale structuren, 
het gebruik van horrorelementen, door minder rap en meer 
grunt voor de zang te kiezen en maskers te dragen tijdens 
optredens. Elk van de negen bandleden is gemaskerd op 
het podium en in videoclips. Meestal worden er nieuwe 
maskers gedragen na elke tournee of na elk nieuw album. 
Het idee om maskers te dragen, begon bij Shawn (percus-
sionist), die tijdens een repetitie met een clownsmasker 
op achter het drumstel zat. De leden kregen zo het idee 
om het verder uit te werken en individuele maskers te 
ontwerpen. Als ze hun maskers opzetten "stappen ze in 
de wereld van Slipknot". Voor de nieuwe leden van de band 
hebben de oudere bandleden zelf maskers ontworpen. 
Volgens zanger Corey kregen zij de kans hun eigen masker 
te ontwerpen, maar waren de voorstellen van de twee niet 
goed genoeg.
