Es ist das spektakuläre Finale der BBC Proms, eines achtwöchigen Klassik-Festivals. Das Konzert umfasst traditionelle englische Lieder, Hymnen und Chorwerke, sowie Soloauftritte von renommierten Künstlern.
Ungeheuerliches ist erlaubt bei der Last Night of the Proms, dem Abschlussabend des größten klassischen Musikfestivals der Welt in Londons Royal Albert Hall. Es darf mitgepfiffen werden, wenn das BBC-Sinfonieorchester Händels feierliches See, the Conqu‘ring Hero Comes! anstimmt. Es darf hineingetutet werden in die Fantasia on British Sea Songs des Proms-Mitbegründers Henry Wood. Es darf gestampft und gewippt und gehüpft und gejohlt werden.
