Michael Stone is een goeroe op het gebied van klantvriendelijkheid maar weet in zijn eigen leven ironisch genoeg geen contact te leggen met de mensen om hem heen. Het sociale isolement waarin Michael zich bevindt wordt steeds merkbaarder. Dan ontmoet hij de muizige Lisa. Hij weet niet waarom, maar ze fascineert hem mateloos.
