Drama set in 1932 following the final years of British colonial rule in India.It’s back to the British Raj and the hill of Simla as Channel 4’s colonial period drama returns early next year with another 10 episodes. We rejoin the guests of Royal Simla Club in the summer of 1935, where Cynthia (Julie Walters) will be entertaining new characters played by Rachel Griffiths, Art Malik, James Fleet, Sugandha Garg, Arjun Mathur and Blake Ritson.Walters says: “I can’t wait to get back to the old girl! There’s some fantastic stuff to come in this series and Cynthia’s naughtiness goes up several notches.”Griffiths says: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Indian Summers. I have been bingeing on UK television for the past 10 years and I’m very excited to be on board such a beautifully made and relevant show. Paul is an incredible creator and has developed an intriguing and provocative strong character in Sirene. I am sure she will have the mountain gossips aghast.
