This two-hour documentary special investigates Camp Hero in Montauk, New York to explore the conspiracies that inspired the Netflix series Stranger Things. The Dark Files follows former CIA operative Barry Eisler, award- winning journalist Steve Volk, and filmmaker Chris Garetano as they explore the conspiracy theories surrounding abandoned US Air Force station Camp Hero. With rumours of mind control experiments, acid tests, child abduction, and time travel, the former military base was initially used as a coastal defence station during the Second World War, but for decades theories maintain that within the camp's concrete fortresses lie the remains of a deep government conspiracy.
