Now here is a story, a time and a place, and the events that unfold which raise supernatural horror to a more sophisticated level. It does this without resorting to the cliches that are recycled from one witching tale to the next; in fact it breaks virtually all the rules.

The story line has a strong infrastructure supporting its premise, and it does that job well, unobtrusively and without fanfare. It's almost as if it touches some archetype within that suggests belief without question. Plausibility without pretense, The events which follow happen naturally as a supplement to the mind saying either yes, that's true, or no, that cannot be. Expect such certainty to be shattered as those events unfold in shocking detail.

"Salem" is a gripping tale with edge-of-the-seat suspense and excitement. The characters show believable development (with an exception or two...) and are portrayed by actors very talented and skilled in their roles (without exception). Do not expect "Salem" to live up to it's fabled tales of the trials and tribulations of witches and horrific punishments meted out. Or do expect them. Just perhaps, not when, or how, you expect them to be.
