The 7th series of SCU is back on your screens on 21st April, TVONE at 8pm.
Last year nearly 300 people died on New Zealand roads, with many more seriously injured – and it’s up to the highly specalised officers of the SCU to establish the cause of these tragic incidents.
During the making of a series of SCU, a crew from Greenstone TV spends six months on call 24/7 following the police officers from Waitemata and Counties Manukau SCU as they carried out their crash investigations.

Our cameras are there from the first phone call-a call that can come at any time of the day or night – each episode takes the viewer behind the scenes as the SCU carry out their detective investigation, piecing together the cause of each crash. Along with expert analysis as well as heart-felt family interviews, the series drives home some hard-hitting safety messages.
Producer Kate Fraser describes making the documentary series, ‘SCU is a really hard show to make but it’s a really important show to make. Some of the victims in this series have made just the simplest of mistakes –if we can prevent just one family from having to go through the grief the families in this series have had to endure, then we are doing our job.’
