De voormalige sheriff Tom Mayfield stuit op drie lijken op zijn ranch in Texas. Hij schakelt de hulp in van zijn schoonbroer Rickey, de bewakingsexpert Akiro en Rebecca, een befaamde zoöloog. Samen willen ze achterhalen wat er gebeurd is en wie er verantwoordelijk is. Ondertussen zit de rechercheur Pitney achter Tom aan die hem verdenkt van de drie moorden.
