Chesney (Chet) Henry Baker, Jr. (Yale, Oklahoma, 23 december 1929 – Amsterdam, 13 mei 1988) 
was een Amerikaans trompettist en zanger.

Baker werd in 1929 geboren als zoon van Ierse ouders in het plaatsje Yale in Oklahoma. 
Hij ontwikkelde zich tot jazztrompettist en zoetgevooisde zanger. 
Baker heeft als kenmerk de zachte melancholieke toon 
die hij in zijn zang en spel op dezelfde manier gebruikt: 
"hij zingt zoals hij speelt".

Baker's Holiday finds Chet Baker effectively paying tribute to Billie Holiday with mellow trumpet solos and occasional vocals. 
Baker is backed by a full sax section and a four-piece rhythm section that includes pianist Hank Jones; 
Jimmy Mundy contributed the colorful arrangements. His performance of ten songs associated with Lady Day 
(most of which he had not recorded previously) is often exquisite. 

Baker's Holiday, a musical tribute to the legacy of Billie Holiday, is one of Chet Baker's finest treasures. 
The session is highlighted with the fluegelhornist's tender solos and blissful vocals. 
Backed by a stellar cast of musicians including pianist Hank Jones, drummer Connie Key, guitarist Everett Barksdale and more, 
this colorful outing is an elegant ten track masterpiece which features the hits "Easy Living", 
"These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)" and "Mean To Me".
