Doctor Who is een Britse SF-serie met als hoofdper-
soon "De Doctor". De Doctor is een alien, een Time
Lord, en heeft een schip genaamd de TARDIS ('Time
And Relative Dimensions In Space) waarmee hij door
tijd en ruimte reist. Een eigenschap van de TARDIS
is dat zij van binnen groter is dan van buiten. De bui-
tenkant van de TARDIS heeft de vorm van een ouder-
wetse, Engelse politietelefooncel met een mooie,
blauwe kleur (beter bekend als 'TARDIS-blauw'). De
Doctor reist altijd in het gezelschap van één of
meerdere reisgenoten.
