Privileged mothers-to-be are prepared to spend £500,000 to have their children delivered at an exclusive private maternity hospital, it has been revealed.
Victoria Beckham, Jerry Hall and Kate Winslet are among some of the high-profile names who have given birth at The Portland Hospital, which is also frequented by Middle Eastern royalty and Chinese socialites.
And it’s not just the patients who can boast wealth and status.
Penelope Law, the consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the hospital - which serves foie gras, oysters, lobster and champagne – is also the Countess of Bradford.
And her colleagues at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists reportedly joke that rather than being “too posh to push”, she is “too posh to pull”.
