Harry Connick Jr. seems to be everywhere. He’s on stage singing jazz and playing piano. He’s on Broadway. He’s on screens, both big and small. During the pandemic, however, like most of us he was at home.

While in Connecticut, Connick recorded “Alone with My Faith,” a profoundly personal album focused on religious faith. Working in his home studio, he played every instrument and sang all the harmonies. The songs mix traditional spirituals with original songs, like bouncing, folksy “Benevolent Man” or the standard “Amazing Grace” that begins with slow intensity and ends with exultations.
